A Mediation Resource for Therapists & Counselors

I work alongside therapists to help clients slow things down, reduce conflict, and make practical decisions,

How We Work Together

Therapists and counselors often work with clients navigating emotionally charged decisions - divorce, separation, parenting arrangements - where unresolved conflict outside the therapy room can stall meaningful progress.

Mediation can provide a calm, structured alternative that helps clients communicate productively and move forward with greater clarity and stability.

When Mediation Might Help

Therapists often find mediation helpful when:

  • Conversations escalate outside sessions

  • Clients feel stuck in decision-making loops

  • Parenting or separation issues block progress

  • Emotional intensity overwhelms communication

  • Conflict outside therapy repeatedly re-triggers the same issues

What is Mediation

Mediation is a confidential, voluntary process in which a neutral third party helps people in conflict communicate more effectively, clarify disputed issues, and reach practical agreements they control themselves.

It is not therapy and not litigation - but it can reduce escalation and emotional gridlock so therapeutic work can continue more effectively.

Common Areas of Focus

While I mediate any disputes springing from domestic disputes, common areas of focus include:

  • Divorce and separation discussions

  • Parenting plans and co-parenting conflict

  • High-conflict decision points

  • Possibility of domestic violence

Therapist-Forward Focus

As a mediator, my role is intentionally limited and clearly defined:

  • I do not diagnose or provide therapeutic treatment

  • I do not advocate for either party

  • I focus on discrete disputes and decision-making impasses

  • I respect and preserve the therapeutic relationship
